Outlook Problems

Outlook can be a really useful email client, especially because it can archive your emails and make them available offline… perfect for travel. But with the great features that Outlook offer, there are still some problems associated with it:

Here are some of the common Outlook Problems and Solutions:

outlook-email-accounts

1) Q: Send emails from different accounts, with different email addresses in the “from” field

This is a common question. How can we use different accounts and have different ”from” emails.

The easy way to fix this is to head over to the outlook settings and configure a new account following this guide. Then, when you click “new email” you will be able to choose which account you want to send it from. When you send the email, people will see the email sent from whichever account it was configured from.

2) Q: When setting flag colors, Outlook doesn’t have a sort option “hot to cold”  eg. red is the hottest

Although this is actually substantially difficult to configure in outllook 2003, Outlook 2007 have features exactly like this, to allow for sorting in this fashion. So, easy way to do this is upgrade to Outlook 2007, and you will find it to be really easy too accomplish.

The default sort order in Outlook 2007 is red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple. If you want to change the order, you can assign categories in order from A – Z, and this will work in the same way as flags.

Alternatively: You can simply create email categories, titling them alphabetically. Although this isn’t a direct solution, it still will work the same way and get you the same end result.

3) Accidentally deleted some of the contacts, or contact groups

Thankfully, Outlook has a setting to restore the contacts: Do the following:

Head over to the deleted items folder. In this menu, you will see an area for the deleted contacts. Restoring them is as simple as clicking “restore”. Thankfully you have Outlook itself, and not Outlook Express, in which case this would not be possible.

There are more common problems, so check back for updates and I will be regularly updating this page.
