Windstream Email settings for your iPhone
Here is how to setup your Windstream email on your iPhone. Note: you may not be able to send outgoing emails, as the ISP tends to block outgoing emails not sent directly through their client.
1. Go to the “settings” area on your iPhone’s home page.
2. Scroll down to the third group and click “mail, contacts, calendars” which is the third option from the top.
3. The 4th option “add account” is your next click.
4. Choose “other” and then “add mail account” which will take you to a menu where you can add a custom email address, such as one from Windstream Email.
5. Here are the windstream email settings for the “New Account” Screen
• Name: Your Name
• Address: username@windstream.net
• Password: your windstream password
• Description: username@windstream.net
After this, click “next”
You will see a new “new account” screen, in which you should add:
Incoming mail server
Host Name: pop.windstram.net
Username: username@windstream.net
pw: your password
Outgoing Mail Server
Host Name: smtp.windstream.net
Username: username@windstream.net
pw: your password
Note that you will have to make sure you include the @windstream.net for your username, not just your regular username. This is because you are dialing into the public Windstream servers and you need to make sure the servers know who you are.
Once this is done, click save, and then head over to the advanced settings to configure the advanced windstream email server settings.
Incoming Settings:
Use SSL: off
server port: 995
Outgoing Settings:
Use SSL: off
Server Port: 587
Your’e done! Note that you still may not be able to send emails from the iPhone due to ISP restrictions, but you can always use a Gmail to forward your emails through as a sending platform.
