Nobody, it seems likes Windows 7 or Microsoft Outlook even though everybody seems to use them. Part of the reason why nobody likes Windows 7 or Microsoft’s e-mail program is that they are full of installation errors. Fortunately most of these installation errors are actually fairly easy to fix.
Both Outlook and 7 will often give installation error messages when they are first installed or anytime you turn on the computer. This glitch can be really frustrating because it is often impossible to tell if these messages indicate a real problem or not. If you do see any sort of installation error message when you start either program you will have to troubleshoot even if it seems to be running fine.
The best resource for troubleshooting is Microsoft Support because one of the few good things about Microsoft is that it does provide a lot of information on troubleshooting. The first thing you should do when you see the error message or think you detect an error is go to this site and see if the gang in Redmond has posted a fix for it. They often do but it may take you some time to hide because they are bad about burying the patches and fixes deep in the bowels of their support site. Something to remember is that the easier the fix, the harder Microsoft will try to hide it from you.
Microsoft Fix
The first and easiest of the fixes that Microsoft tries to hide is called Microsoft Fix. This is a simple program that will detect common errors and fix them automatically. It can also detect errors and point you to other solutions. Essentially Microsoft Fix is a general troubleshooting program that anybody can download and use.
You can find a free version of Microsoft Fix for Windows 7 online. It has two different modes “fix this problem for me” and “let me fix it myself.” Something to remember when using this is that the old instructions for XP and Vista do not work here. It should do the troubleshooting automatically in Windows 7.
Another great thing about Microsoft Fix for Windows 7 is that you can download it and put it on a flash drive for free. That means you can actually take it around with you and use it on other computers.
