It’s been a busy couple of months on the Internet! Many new How to Windows guides and articles have been posted in the past few months since launch; some of the funny, some clever and some just plain informative. Here is a roundup of our favorite guides that were written on Windows how to subject matter:
1) How to enable God Mode
Create a new folder, right click the folder, and paste the following text into the name of the folder: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
Hit enter to save the results, and viola, your done!
The Windows 7 God Mode folder is useful as a shortcut menu to do a lot of tasks that many people find to be very relevant. God Mode is basically the ultimate way to find shortcuts in Windows 7, and is a huge time saver for Tech Support specialists, who use the folder to troubleshoot problems and navigate around the computer quickly and efficiently. It should be noted that God Mode folder, despite its catchy name, does not enable one to perform miracles. Sorry to disappoint :(
2) How to show Hidden Files in Windows 7
Windows 7 is an operating system which is catered to the public, or more specifically the not so educated random end user who may not have much computer knowledge. Therefore, Windows 7 has taken some approaches to make the operating system protected from the person using it. This is a great measure for the computer to have less problems, but it does not serve justice to use folks who know what we are doing.
A lot of the most important files and folders in Windows 7 are hidden by default, and can make searching for them next to impossible. To unhide these important system files, do the following:
Step 1: in the windows search function in the start menu, type “folder options” and press enter on the first result. This will bring you to the folder options menu, in which you can scroll down to the 3rd or 4th menu item, and click the radio button signifying the change of the hidden files and folders. Click apply, and then OK, and you can now see hidden files and folders as a slightly faded icon in each of their directories. Keep in mind these files were hidden for a reason, and you should think twice before playing with them.
3) How to hide / show all open windows in Windows 7
Windows 7 added one of the most used and loved features of all time: The show desktop button. You may be wondering how this is any different than the same button we have seen in Windows Vista and in Windows XP, to which we answer, try clicking the button again! Or we might just say the Windows Vista and its Vista problems that came along with it nullify the question!
The button is located at the bottom right of the screen, right next to the system time and date. The button looks like small blue tab, and is now used as a toggle instead of just a “show desktop” button. The button will allow you to hide all of the current windows and show you the desktop, but if you click it again, it will reopen all of the windows that you had open before. This is a really convenient feature that was added to Microsoft Windows 7, and it is one of my favorite and most used shortcuts.
This concludes the May 2011 top 3 How to Guide article roundup! Stay tuned for more!
